BETTER MUS' COME
Dir. Storm Saulter, 98 min., Jamaica
Passion, politics and poverty
collide as this stunning love story unfolds against a backdrop of
political turmoil. Set in 1970's Jamaica, Better Mus' Come is based on a
violent moment in history when rival gangs were enlisted by warring
political factions to disrupt the democratic process, and bloodshed was
unleashed in the streets of Jamaica. Better Mus' Come begins in ’77 and
ends the in the first couple days of ’78 during the Green Bay Massacre.
This explosive film follows Ricky, a gang leader and political pawn, as
he struggles to navigate the hardships of life in Kingston, and to
define a better way of life for his young son.

Jamaican-born international music
star Mr. Vegas is the distinctive voice behind many of the most
recognizable reggae/dancehall hits of the last 15 years. Since his debut
in 1997, the MOBO award-winning singer has built an extensive catalog
that includes Billboard-charting hits "Heads High" and "Pull Up" and
club staples "Tek Weh Yuhself," "Hot Wuk" and "Gallis." For his latest
album Sweet Jamaica, Vegas pays tribute to his homeland's golden
anniversary by exploring the last 50 years of Jamaican music, from the
roots of Ska in the early 1960's through the birth of Reggae and into
contemporary Dancehall. Vegas will perform from new roots-inspired
album at the NY Premiere of BETTER MUS' COME!
