Brooklyn, New York, April 11, 2012 - The Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium/CBJC presents Jazz! The Women's ViewPoint in partnership with Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation on Saturday, April 21st from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM at 1368 Fulton Street in Restoration's Multi Purpose Room. Jazz! The Women's Viewpoint is a forum where a panel of distinguished female artists will assemble for discussion followed by performance. Since CBJC's inception in 1999, female artists and audiences have come together to celebrate women's contribution to America's indigenous music jazz. This year's panel will consist of Aziza Miller, Carla Cook, Lucy Blanco and Mavis "Swan" Poole. The event will be moderated by photojournalist and executive producer, director, host of the CACE INT'L TV Show, Fikisha Cumbo. Musical performance by The Mala Waldron Trio and dance by Tendayi Kuumba.
Rosalind Blair, CBJC co-founder, created Jazz! The Women's ViewPoint a core program of the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium. One of the primary goals of this event is to give women an opportunity to participate in the discourse of the music industry's dynamics. Another aim is to give females an opportunity to share experiences. The panel is open to female: musicians, educators, industry executives, media personnel, and wives of jazz artists. Past participates in Jazz! The Women's ViewPoint have included, Judy Bady, Lil Phillips, Tia Fuller, Kim Clarke, Bertha Hope, Emme Kemp, Ntozake Shange, Mickey Davidson, Akua Dixon, Carline Ray, Camille Yarborough, Monique Ngozi Nri, Tulivu Donna Cumberbatch, Cynthia Scott, Beareather Reddy and Patsy Grant just to name a few.

Founded in 1999, the Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium is an amalgam of patrons, entertainment venues, musicians, faith-based institutions, and community organizations. Over the past 12 years CBJC has presented an annual spring festival, established a Brooklyn Jazz Hall of Fame & Museum™, and produced yearly programs that feature local jazz talent. CBJC is a nonprofit corporation committed to preserving, promoting and supporting live music within the underserved communities of Brooklyn.
