Balance in Ma'at
A Kemetic Yoga Experience
Balance in Ma'at is a 1 day workshop, Thursday August 25, 6-9pm EST, focused on developing a deeper connection to the universal elements, including self as divine light beams.
The Kemetic Yoga postures we do match the original image the ancestors left for us.
We perform these poses and postures, guided by Iya Ifafunmilola to experience the specific anatomical, physiological, bio-energetic, psychological and metaphysical effect upon us as practioners. The essence of Kemetic Yoga practice is a very precise coordination between the movement of the breath and the movement of the body. We will flow through these movements keeping this thought in mind.
Learning about the 42 Virtues of Ma'at, you will automatically lean towards creating a life of love, peace, and harmony for yourself and others while filling your life savings account with positive karma. You will experience a beautiful spiritual journey of integrating these virtues into your daily life. Through doing so, you will naturally align more with your Divine Purpose.
Ma'at is the Kemetic symbol for universal justice, balance and harmony. Ka is the ancient Kemetic symbol for spirit. The Medu Neter symbol for Ka is two arms outstretched toward the sky above the head. These symbols signify the eternal nature of the soul or spirit. The symbol for Maat is a feather. In the judgment story the feather is weighed against the heart of the deceased person. The heart must be lighter than the feature in order for the per- son to be allowed entrance into the afterlife.
Ma'at and Ka combined therefore signifies that unification of moral purpose with spiritual immortality. While performing the various positions in the Ma'at Ka series the body should become as light as the feature. I should flow from one position into the next.
The benefits of Ma'at Ka are in healing. It opens the energy channels and allows for the flow of life force through the body which in turn corrects imbalances in the body. In the same way that Ma'at brings balance and harmony to the universe, the body should also manifest balance and harmony in order to activate the self-healing ability that we all naturally possess. According the healing science of acupuncture we have energy channels called meridians through which energy moves. When this energy is blocked illness occurs in the body. Before an ail- ment physically manifests in the body there is a blockage in the energy system. Ma'at Ka keeps the energy flow- ing. Every movement is done in coordination with slow, deep, controlled breathing. When performing this form you will feel the energy moving through the vital channels bringing an enhanced sense of well being to your mind and body.
One of the powerful aspects of Ma'at Ka is that all of the organs receive a fresh supply of blood and energy to them. The organs that are affected particularly are the:
