Afrocentricity International's 9th Annual Convention Senegal, West Africa May 25- June 5, 2023/6259 After a two-day conference in Dakar (on "The Relevance of Cheikh Anta Diop's Work for the African Renaissance 100 Years Later") where we will meet several of Cheikh Anta Diop's comrades, we will embark on a spiritual and historical journey throughout the land of birth of Cheikh Anta Diop. Our visits will include, among many fascinating sites: Cheikh Anta Diop's Carbon 14 Laboratory (IFAN);Cheikh Anta Diop's Mausoleum in Thiaythou; the Cheikh Anta Diop University's campus; the Cheikh Anta Diop High School; the African Renaissance Monument; the Sandaga and Kermel markets for shopping; the spiritual village of Toubab Dialaw for special cleansing and reconnection rituals; the Lac Rose with its incredible pink waters and sand dunes; Ngor Island and its art galleries; and of course, GorĂ©e Island and its infamous Maison des Esclaves ("Slave House"), a major site of deportation during the slave trade – we will pour libations for our Ancestors.
