We're proud to be a supporting partner of the Journey to Justice bus tour that is already underway across the country and fueling the crucial movement demanding an end to solitary confinement in carceral facilities in the U.S. This tour, organized by the Unlock the Box Campaign and Look2Justice, serves as a moving center for "artivism" – using art and creativity to bring people together, ignite conversation, and build a powerful, unified call for action. There's something for everyone: panels, rallies, workshops, films, and of course the bus – a mobile hub for change, featuring a life-sized solitary cell model, VR experiences, a photo exhibit of survivors, and creative spaces for sharing stories. Will you ride with us? Now through the end of October, the bus will be heading to Chicago, Madison, Lansing, Buffalo, NYC, Philly, and more. Check out the calendar. The Center for Constitutional Rights has long worked to end solitary confinement in the U.S. by organizing with incarcerated people and their families and community outside, including through our lawsuit that challenged the prolonged use of solitary confinement in California prisons (Ashker v. Governor of California) and, more recently, through our participation in the Federal Anti-Solitary Taskforce (FAST). The taskforce works to end solitary confinement in federal prisons and detention facilities, as well as in states, and is made up of civil rights, human rights, faith, and health organizations and leaders, including people who have survived solitary confinement. Senior Staff Attorney CJ Sandley will join FAST on October 30 in Washington, D.C. for congressional meetings and a rally in support of the End Solitary Confinement Act. We're thrilled to be a part of this critical work, and hope that you'll check out the bus when it stops near you! In solidarity, The Center for Constitutional Rights team |
