| | | NEW Living Room Session: Kotoko Brass with Mohammed Alidu |
| |
The second edition of Afropop Living Room Sessions features an intimate performance from Kotoko Brass recorded in Afropop's Middletown, CT studio. Led by Mohammed Alidu and founded by brothers Ben and Brian Paulding, the Boston-based group blends Asante tradition with highlife instrumentation, building on roots first documented in Afropop's Asante Drum Language feature. With master Ghanaian percussionists and a full ensemble, the band delivers four vibrant songs grounded in rhythm, dance, and collective celebration. |

| | | SPOTLIGHT INTERVIEW: Twenty One Children Brings on the Punk Pulse of Soweto |
| |
Soweto-based trio Twenty One Children are forging a vibrant, DIY punk scene rooted in their community, blending fast-paced, skate-inspired sound with deeply personal storytelling about life, mental health, and resilience in Johannesburg. Formed by Abdula Skink, Thulasizwe Nkosi, and Biko, the band has not only released their debut mini-album After the Storm but also built an inclusive, youth-driven movement by hosting all-ages shows, thereby creating spaces for emerging artists, and redefining punk through a distinctly local, socially conscious lens. Their music channels both chaos and healing, reflecting hardship while celebrating growth, connection, and the transformative power of creative expression. |

| | | | | | | | | | | HORNORING GEORGES COLLINET |
Afropop is getting ready to honor long time host Georges Collinet, and we want to hear from you! Get out your phone and record a short testimonial: a memory, a rave, a declaration of love, whatever you like. Keep it short and snappy and send the file to info@afropop.org with the subject line, "Honoring Georges." |
