Please join Council Member Inez Dickens, Community Leaders, and the Harlem Historical Society, the National Black Theatre, the Reverend Al Sharpton, Deanna Brown, and On the Potomac Productions, as well as residents of Harlem, for a Historic Street Co-Naming Ceremony in honor of a giant in Music History, Civil & Human Rights, and Social Justice:  The Godfather of Soul - James Brown.

On Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:00PM all will gather on theSouthwest corner of       West 126th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard to commemorate the Co-Naming of 126th Street behind the Apollo Theateras James Brown Way.

This Street Co-Naming honors this distinguished gentleman as a Giant of the 20th Century who played many critical and pivotal roles of great significance to our nation’s cultural, social, and  music history – for his commitment to Education and Excellence, and also as the “Father of FUNK’, and the “Godfather of Hip Hop”.

What: Co-naming of 126th Street from Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd. to Frederick Douglass Boulevard as James Brown Way.

When: Saturday, November 22, 2014 at 1:00PM

Where: This Historic Co-Naming Ceremony will take place on the Southwest corner of 126th Street & Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd.

Reception with Beverages & Free Screening of the Documentary“James Brown – The Man, the Music, the Message  to follow at the National Black Theater – 125th Street and 5th Ave. (RSVP)
