ELAM Scholarship Application Launched & "One Struggle, Many Fronts" Seminar in December

Dear SendMeYourNews,

The movement for a healthier, more equitable and just society is growing every day, we are proud to be working with you in building it. Here are three important ways you can continue to contribute in building with us:

1. Support the demand for Healthcare as a Human Right!

We need healthcare professionals who are at the frontlines of demanding: Healthcare is a human right! Professionals who understand the impact of the social and economic realities of our communities as important determinants to healthcare access and practices, and are willing to commit to fighting against systemic oppression to help our communities heal from all ailments.

Help us identify the next generation of healthcare professionals to take up this task. The applications for the U.S. Scholarships to The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in Cuba are now available. For more information and to receive an application, visit our ELAM program page.

We need young people interested in the field of medicine, who are committed to their communities and the advancement of our struggles to take on this opportunity of a lifetime to be inspired, equipped and transformed in revolutionary ways.

2. Join us in creating a space for analysis, discussion and collaboration.

If we are committed to transforming society, we must understand the forces we are fighting. Join us for a vital two hour interactive seminar where we will connect the dots between liberation theology, the brutal reality of war and US imperialism, and the concrete fight against the billionaire class that puts profit over people and the planet. This seminar is for organizers, activists, faith leaders and anyone concerned about the state of the world today.

3. Continue to fund our work to bring urgent medical supplies to Cuba.

As is customary, IFCO/Pastors for Peace, continues to express solidarity to our Cuban siblings through acts of love and care. In the last 11 months, small IFCO delegations have traveled to Cuba and have distributed tens of thousands of dollars worth of urgent medicine to communities in Cuba. We also collaborated with The People’s Forum and other organizations in raising over $50,000 towards Hurricane Relief efforts. We want to do more. Will you help us? Your donations will fund much needed life saving materials.

In January 2026, a small IFCO delegation will be traveling and our aim is to bring antibiotics, ibuprofen, repellent, and vitamins for children and the elderly. Currently, Cuba is facing an epidemic of mosquito-borne diseases, in particular dengue and chikungunya. Public health initiatives on the island are racing against the clock and operating under the harsh conditions imposed by the U.S. blockade. We are convinced that our solidarity must be as relentless as the inhumane blockade that does not allow Cubans the space to breathe and have access to the most basic things.

We welcome all financial donations. We can only do this with your support. Please, mark your contributions as “medical aid donations.”

All donations are tax deductible.

These three actions are part of what is necessary to win: educate a new generation of healthcare professionals, deepening our political education, and practicing our solidarity. We are committed to building the world that we urgently need.

Thank you for your unwavering commitment and action.
