RAINBOW PUSH WALL STREET PROJECT, JANUARY 13-15, TIME FOR A FINANCIAL PARADIGM SHIFT

If it’s January, it must be time for Rev. Jesse Jackson’s Wall Street Project. And if you haven’t already done so, this is the time to register and get your business cards dusted off, your resumes ready and your business suits out of mothballs, because you just might meet your next employer there.

Below isthe basic information on the upcoming events being held at the Sheraton Hotel in Manhattan, 53rd and 7th Avenue. For further information or to register go on line an follow the prompts.

The concept of THE WALL STREET PROJECT was originated by Rev. Jesse Jackson when he realized that racism extended beyond segregation of neighborhoods, jobs and schools; it also encompassed economics (read MONEY) as well. Realizing that there was indeed a need for comprehensive involvement on the part of Black people in the realm of money and economic parity, he held the first Wall Street Project at the World Trade Center.

However, since 2008, it has never been more blatantly pointed up than in the past year during the aftermath of massive economic down turns, toxic mortgages, job shortages, lay offs and firings that ran over the Black community -- nationally and internationally -- like a mack truck on a mission.

Not only does the Black community financial literacy from the most elementary to the most advanced level, but we need to develop some serious "con-solidarity" (my word) -- a means by which we amalgamate our efforts to develop our own on-going financial institutions.

Hopefully this is what will be provided over the next few days that the WALL STREET PROJECT is in town. If it isn’t then perhaps you might want to come with some of your own ideas in order to help the project in the establishment of such a protocol. One which links our Main Street to our own new version of “Wall Street”. Where we develop our own mutual funds, triple tax free municipal bond funds; credit unions; home buying protocols. Art there some direct business linkages that can be developed between African Americans, Africans, Afri-Caribbeans, South Amercians, etc? that would be of mutual benefit to us all? These are some the burning questions that need to be answered. Our paradigm shift should be part and parcel of the upcoming Wall Street Project.

In the mean time, as always, there are plenty of opportunities and options for networking and uniting. See you there.

NATIONALLY ACCLAIMED MEDICAL MISSIONARY TO BE GUEST SPEAKER AT KING BREAKFAST

Ontario, CA (BlackNews.com) –The 9th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Breakfast Tribute will carry the tradition of music and inspiration in honor of Dr. King on Monday, January 18th, 2010, with special guest speaker Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., chairman of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF) and noted medical missionary, musician, and activist. Dr. Myers is featured as well as the Senior Pastors and Choirs of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Ontario and Mt. Sinai C.O.G.I.C. in Pomona, encouraging attendees to reflect on Dr. King's legacy as we begin a new decade in an era of change. The event will be held from 8:30AM-10:30AM at the Ontario Airport Doubletree Hotel, with doors opening at 8:00AM.

Dr. Myers' work as a medical missionary has garnered national media coverage, in ABC's “Good Morning America”, People Magazine and New York Times, and joins the breakfast tribute while on the trail of leading the nation into acknowledging “Juneteenth”, most recently achieving Wisconsin as the 32nd state, this past December, to recognize Juneteenth as a paid holiday. The breakfast tribute has been a staple event in the Inland Empire, creating a forum to embrace diversity and American heritage, amongst dignitaries, community leaders, and families looking to celebrate the holiday.

“This event recreates the spirit and collective environment that nurtured Dr. King's efforts and fostered a movement that changed the country,” says Founder of Juneteenth America, Inc., John H. Thompson, Sr. “And it is in this momentum, that we should continue to recognize efforts and events affecting the makeup of our American heritage.”

Participating sponsors and community partners include Verizon, Ontario Volvo, Ontario Volkswagen, Ontario Airport Doubletree Hotel, E-Biz Marketing and Inland Empire Community Calendar. Tickets are $30 for General Admission, with Table, Advertisement and Sponsorship opportunities still available. For more information or to purchase tickets directly, visit www.juneteenthamerica.us, call (909) 621-9707 or e-mail jai@juneteenthamerica.us.

Juneteenth America Incorporated (JAI) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, that has produced community events and programs since 1995 in Southern California's Inland Empire, to educate the public about the significance of “Juneteenth” or “June 19th, 1865” and promote the observance of the California Juneteenth National Freedom Day, signed into law in 2002.
